As Certified IELTS Examiners and College ESL Instructors, we met many students and working professionals who felt a need to demonstrate English proficiency for their school programs and employers. We helped them to prioritize which skills to focus on first so that they could manage their efforts more efficiently.
After receiving a BA in English from the University of Missouri in 1993, I lived and taught university-level English for seven consecutive years in S. Korea, Hong Kong, and Spain. During this time, I became highly communicative in both Korean and Spanish, and I continue to draw from those experiences today as an adult language learner and as a husband to my wife, who is a native of Mexico City.
In 2006, I completed my MA in Applied Linguistics from the University of Surrey, England and spent five more years teaching ESL in Colorado and Texas public schools and community colleges before dedicating myself full time to the opening of English Institute, which has been compassionately serving the San Antonio and broader community since 2011.

English Institute opens its doors in San Antonio, offering in-person test preparation and conversation classes and word quickly spreads that a new school is suddenly helping a lot of international and local students get the test scores they need to either enter or stay in their programs.
English Institute celebrates 10 years of serving the San Antonio community, and, since adding live online classes in 2015, has expanded its reach and taught students and professionals in real time throughout N. and S. America, Europe, Asia, the Middle East, Africa, and Australia.
