Frequently Asked Questions

We have bilingual, customer-friendly staff ready to help answer your questions fast and schedule your free 1-hour class at no obligation to get to know your instructor first.

We believe proficiency is the ability to communicate effectively and appropriately to meet the requirements of daily living in an English-speaking society, where spoken and written English is used to function in social, personal, school, and work settings.

We organize our small-group and individualized instruction around engaging themes that provide many opportunities for students to speak, read, write, and critically think in English. We design and deliver classroom instruction with six key factors of language development in mind:

• Meaning and Purpose
• Prior Knowledge and Experience
• Integration of Oral and Written Language Output
• Scaffolding and Sheltering Techniques to Maximize Participation
• Collaboration in a Low-Anxiety Setting
• Variety to Spark Interest and Enthusiasm

The speed at which individuals achieve their language learning goals varies. However, we believe that we can help you get there faster for two reasons: our teachers are highly trained in second-language teaching methodology and our instruction is given in small groups or individually, which gives the teacher more time to check for accuracy and understanding and caters to the specific needs of each student.

You will meet 1 on 1 with the instructor for 1 full hour to determine your level before you sign up. This class is completely free of cost to you and gives us the opportunity to not only evaluate your level but also learn about your specific interests and needs.

Most of our students tell us that both grammar and fluency are important for them, and we agree! They use spoken and written English at work, school, and home and need to apply knowledge of both the grammatical rules and the social conventions of English language use (e.g., how to smoothly enter or end a conversation, when to engage in others’ opinions or assert your own, or whether to establish a first-name basis in a formal relationship).
